The Mother Behind Mothership
Certified Breastfeeding Specialist and Postpartum Doula
Birth is the great unifier. Its knowledge and ancestral nurturing passed through generations. I grew up in a family where birth work was commonplace. Postpartum periods were sacred. When I got to the age where my peers were starting families, I realized my upbringing provided me with a unique insight and set of skills. During my time at university (and after), as a student of the arts, I assisted with many births of friends and family. It wasn't until years later when I started my own journey into motherhood that I realized this was my calling. Although I had a great deal of postpartum support, I had many friends who were not so blessed. I saw how hard the struggle could be without help. I decided to switch focus from birth to postpartum because I saw a huge gap in the care provided during this pivotal time. I received both my CBS as well as my postpartum doula license and am committed to changing the way that we, as a culture, support families during this transition. I'm passionate about empowering my clients through evidence based education to make decisions that are best for their unique situation. My practice is based on unity and inclusion. Adoptive families, non-traditional families, LGBTQIA2S+ families, BIPOC families, and families of all religious backgrounds are loved and welcomed.
Blessings to the Navajo, Hopi, Havasupai, Kaibab-Paiute, and Hualapai people whose land I practice on.
